Welcome State Fire Chief's

(October 18, 2006) - For the first time in the department's history the Georgetown City Fire Department is hosting the annual South Carolina State Association of Fire Chief's Annual Conference this week.  Several hundred conference attendees will begin arriving on October 18th and stay through the weekend to work on various projects dealing with fire department management and operations.

Conference host, First Vice President Joey Tanner says the conference should be a good opportunity for fire chief's across the state to learn new ideas and express their concerns.  "We have a number of speakers who will address several aspects of Fire Department Management and some who will bring us up to date on business and legislative matters. 

Life Safety Achievement Award

Among the dignitaries scheduled to speak to the group are Georgetown Mayor Lynn Wood Wilson and Governor Mark Sanford.  The conference will be presided over by Association President Chief Terry Strange of the City of Greenwood.  The conference will culminate with the awards banquet Saturday night.
