Cold Weather Safety |

Officials urge the following safety tips when using portable space heaters:
· Keep combustible materials at least 3 feet away from heaters.
· Never refill liquid fueled heaters while the heater is hot or inside your home.
· Never use gasoline inside the home.
· Never use charcoal inside the home.
· Install a Carbon-monoxide detector in your home to alert you when deadly CO gas accumulates.
· Don’t over stuff fire places and wood burning stoves
· Test your smoke detector weekly.
· Review with your family, two escape routes from every room in the home.
· Practice good fire safety habits.
· Only use Kerosene in Kerosene heaters.
· Frequently examine connections, pipes, hoses, valves, and wiring for damage, leaks, and wear. Repair damage immediately.
· Make sure gas heating appliances are vented properly
