Tammy Floods City

(Georgetown) - Tropical Storm Tammy slammed the City of Georgetown Thursday and Friday with torrential rains causing flooded streets and roadways.  By early Friday morning, Highway 17 from Front street to Highmarket was under several inches of water.  Storm totals at 5:00 AM Friday were measured at 8.31 inches since midnight Thursday morning.

Fire and police units responded to numerous flooding complaints Friday morning, rescuing people from automobiles and homes that were flooded.  No serious injuries were reported.
