For Immediate Release September 6, 2005
(Georgetown) - Today, Georgetown City Firefighters donated one thousand dollars to the Hurricane Katrina recovery effort. The firefighters presented the check to Sandra Quinn, Director of the Georgetown Service Center of the SC Coastal Chapter of the American Red Cross.
"The firefighters felt a need to contribute in some way", said Chief Joey Tanner, "and all the reports from the area suggested money was the greatest need at this point. Over the weekend the firefighters decided to send a thousand dollars from their Firefighter relief fund to the Red Cross for use in helping victims of Hurricane Katrina. We remember how much help we received from the Red Cross during the recovery from Hurricane Hugo. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama who are suffering from this great catastrophe."
