For Immediate Release September 28, 2005
(Georgetown) - Ladder 27, the department's newest aerial truck, was placed into service earlier this week. The truck will temporarily replace Tower 17, which is in Ocala, Florida, being repaired for damage sustained at the Screen Tight fire on May 14th.
Ladder 27 is a 108 foot LTI aerial ladder with a 1250 gallon per minute pumping capacity. The truck was purchased from Pierce Manufacturing and had previously been in service for the City of Myrtle Beach. It's current "Myrtle Beach Yellow" will be replaced soon with a new paint job.
When Tower 17 returns, Ladder 27 will become primarily responsible for the response area South of the Sampit River, which includes the new South Island Plantation development.
