(Georgetown) - Today, Georgetown City Firefighters committed to helping sponsor Guardsmen Welcome Home, a celebration to commemorate the end of tour for Georgetown's National Guard.  The 178th Field Artillery Unit of the South Carolina Army National Guard served in Iraq and Kuwait and are due home this month.   

Firefighters donated $500.00 to help sponsor the event which is scheduled for October 15th at Georgetown High's Tommy Smith Stadium.  The funds come from the Firefighter's relief fund.

Firefighter Shane Singletary is among the National Guardsmen from Georgetown.
