Georgetown, South Carolina

Chief Odell B. Avant (ret.)

1934 - 2008

I did not know the Chief, but he was apparently LOVED by the City of Georgetown. I was only a witness to the events from the outside, but the funeral procession was beautiful and for the first time, I seen people along the route STOP their cars (something that happens for every procession back home). My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

I agree, the City and Family did a beautiful job on their tribute to Uncle Odell who was a wonderful Husband,Father,Grandfather,Brother and Uncle. My sons David and Courtney would like to say how much Uncle Odell will be missed how much they loved him. We know he is having a joyous time full of laughter with their Dad in Heaven. For the love and support your Family gave us during our times of sadness, you have made us a stronger family today. Thank You, WE LOVE YOU!

Thank you Harriett for the kind words, family is very important to my father. McKenzie Funeral Home, Georgetown Fire Department and the City all did an outstanding job. I can not find the words to express the gratitude I feel. I am certainly proud to be Odell's son!!!!!!!!

The City & the family did a wonderful job on their tribute to Odell. It was beautiful from start to finish. I have always loved Odell & his family, but yesterday made me proud to be his cousin & proud to be a Georgetownian. Thanks to all involved.
