Our Department has a strong commitment to developing the newest and latest technology. Since 1997 we have continued to develop our Computerized Engine Company System. We now operate five laptops on first due engine companies and vehicles that contain detailed pre-fire planning information on more than 300 commercial occupancies and buildings. From the computer, company officers can access information about the building, required fire flows, owner/occupant names and contacts, and 2 and 3 dimensional graphics of the building. |

Early in 2000, the department made the entire Essentials Fire Fighter I and Fire Fighter II series available by computer. The program is interactive with the Fire Fighter displaying video and audio for a wide variety of firefighting skills. The system is delivered through the Department’s Computer Network from a CD-ROM Tower that contains all 33 CD’s. In August of 2000, the Department added the new Pumping Apparatus Driver/Operator interactive series.
The beauty of the Interactive Essentials Program is its ability to allow the Fire Fighter to train |

Using technology and the lessons learned developing the Essentials Series, the Department has modified it’s development of training programs to include both instructor assist and on-line interactive training programs. The latest program under development is a customized version of the South Carolina Fire Academy’s Pumper Operations Course. The program is designed to teach Fire Apparatus Operators methods and procedures of pumping larges volumes of water and various apparatus systems. |
