The Chief is responsible for all departmental Operations. He is responsible for organization, preparation and implementing the department’s role in City Government and for planning for future need of the City’s Fire Protection System.
As such, he delegates tasks to the Assistant Fire Chief and the Fire Marshal to ensure the City is a fire safe place to work, play and learn.
In Georgetown, our Chief is Joseph K. Tanner, a third generation chief in his family. Known to friends and family as Joey, Chief Tanner was appointed by City Council to replace retiring Chief Jim O. Sargent on July 1st, 1998 |
