The office of Assistant Fire Chief is primarily responsible for the daily operation of the Department.  Answering directly to the Fire Chief, the Assistant supervises a wide variety of operations.

 

Bill Johnson was promoted to Assistant Fire Chief in 1995 after serving as the Department’s first Training Captain.  Among his many responsibilities are the management of shift operations, the department’s data management systems, and supervision of the training, hazardous materials, medical and marine operations.

 

Johnson joined the department as a shift fire fighter in 1986 following eleven years as a volunteer in the Clarendon County Fire Department and serving two years as an assistant to Carter Jones, Clarendon County‘s Fire Chief.
